When we were starting to put this site together, the word got out that we were looking for bike-related content for the site. When our friend, Walter Gregg sent us these photographs, we jumped at the chance to use them here, in the first feature on Velosophy.com

Walter has had a long and varied career, which has seen him behind both movie cameras and still cameras. In this series of three photographs, he creates a portrait of an elderly man who makes a living by fixing bikes under an overpass in the crazy, harried city of Beijing, China.

As far as we know, these photos were taken in late 2001, but in keeping with his elusive nature, we can't be sure of that! In fact, we don't even know where he is, travelling the world, or in his Brooklyn home. Hopefully you enjoy them!
